A glimpse into Hamilton’s history
Back in July, 2014, the walls of the Bar on Locke underwent an interesting transformation.
Local Archivist and photographer, Jack Whorwood, has been a patron of the bar for several years. Him and then owner, Ray, would often chat over drinks.
Possibly Hamilton's most prolific street photographer, Jack has a huge collection of the buildings, people, and events that have shaped the city over the last 70 years.
The two both decided that these photos needed to be seen.
Being a part of the Hamilton community for almost 20 years at the time, Ray decided that nothing would be more appropriate for the Bar on Locke than covering the walls with Hamilton's history.
So Jack moved some of his collection to the bar, which is now one of the best spots in the city to get a glimpse into the past. These previously rarely seen images date back as far as 1950.
All of Jack's photos are also available for purchase, anyone visiting the bar can now take home a piece of Hamilton's history.
